On
July, 1953, a public campaign was launched to determine the official
symbol of Kawachinagano. The symbol to the left was chosen, and
adopted as the city’s official symbol on Aug.1 1954.
The five pointed
flower represents the outer boundary of Osaka Prefecture. The
interior symbol is an altered form of the chinese character,”nagai,”
and is meant to symbolize the city of Kawachinagano itself.

KUSUNOKI is the Japanese word
for Camphor tree, which can be found in areas of Asia and Australia.
Its name is connected with the Masashige Kusunoki, a famous general
from the Kawachinagano area, who lived around the 14th
century. This sturdy, robust tree was officially selected on Nov.
3, 1969, and was meant to symbolize the sturdy, robust growth of
Kawachinagano as a city. |

KIKU is the Japanese word for
chrysanthemum, and can also be connected with the famous general
Masashige Kusoniki. A floating chrysanthemum crest was used as his
family banner during his reign in the Kawachinagano area. Picked
to symbolize the modest, warm hearts of its citizens, this flower
was also adopted on Nov. 3, 1969 to become the official flower of
Kawachinagano. |
